Title:: The Proper Treatment of the Wide Scope or Reading of the English Either … or … Construction
Abstract:: In this talk I focus on the wide scope or reading of the English either … or … construction and its interaction with the behavior of either. I present data not covered by previous analyses of the either … or … construction and propose that a hybrid analysis of an ellipsis analysis (Schwarz (1999)) and the choice function analysis of either, which extends the choice function analysis of disjunction (Winter (2001), Schlenker (2006)), straightforwardly explains this data set.
