Title:
Abstract categorial grammar for cross-over and superiority
Abstract:
Shan and Barker (2006) gave a combinatory categorial grammar analysis for cross-over and superiority effects which does not explicitly represent the scope of a quantificational noun phrase in the syntax and treats pronouns similarly to quantificational noun phrases. I discuss how de Groote's (2001) abstract categorial grammar combined with de Groote's (2006) and Lebedeva's (2012) treatment of pronominal anaphora can give an alternative analysis where scope is explicitly represented in the syntax and pronouns are treated simply as a device for picking up a referent from an environment.
